Thomas Mylchreest was born in the parish of Malew on the Isle of Man
Thomas Mylchreest was the son of Solomon Mylchreest and Jane Kennah. He was baptised at St. Marks church Malew on 20th September 1835. His parents Solomon Mylchreest and Jane Kennah were married at Malew church on 14th September 1822. Solomon must have been a well known character because he is remembered in the place name Solomon's Corner. The author of "A Manx Scrapbook" William Walter Gill describes this location as "a well-known spot at the highest point of the St. John's and Castletown high road". Thomas Mylchreest married Esther Corrin on 25th April 1861 at Rushen church.
